Before a survey

Check the fit, not just the price

Ask about staircase width, landing space, folding seats, safe entry and exit, and whether the user can comfortably operate the controls.

Comparing suppliers

Get the same things in each quote

Request a total installed price with VAT treatment, rail, fittings, warranty, maintenance and removal fees clearly stated.

Aftercare

What if something breaks down?

Compare call-out response, servicing costs, battery replacement terms and how support works at weekends.

Choosing a model

Don't choose from a picture alone

A home assessment should consider staircase geometry and a person's needs. Internet price guides cannot verify safety or suitability.

Your questions

Stairlift FAQs

How long does fitting a stairlift take?

Times vary by model, installation complexity and supplier scheduling. Ask your chosen installer for a realistic timetable, including any bespoke rail manufacture.

Do stairlifts need servicing?

They require maintenance according to the manufacturer's instructions. Ask how often it is needed, what it costs and whether your warranty depends on a service plan.

What happens during a home survey?

A suitable professional should measure the staircase, review access at both ends, discuss user needs and provide a written quotation.

Are second-hand stairlifts safe?

A properly inspected and professionally installed reconditioned lift may be an option. Ask the supplier for testing information, the model's condition, warranty and the suitability of the rail.

Can I change my mind?

Cancellation rights depend on the contract, its timing and whether a product is custom-made. Review all terms before ordering, and ask the supplier to explain cancellation costs in writing.

Is Stairlift Clarity an installer?

No. This is an independent informational prototype. We do not sell, supply, survey or install stairlifts, and we have no live referral or affiliate arrangement.
